Nowotny (6-0) allowed one unearned run on five hits while walking none and striking out eight in a complete-game effort.
Nate Alfson suffered the loss for Pipestone. He allowed six runs while walking seven and striking out seven.
Jordon Kontz had two singles and drove in two runs for Adrian (18-10), while Greg Quist had two hits and two RBI.
Levi Bullerman had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while Jason Stubbe was 2-for-4. Cody Kontz walked four times.
Doug Mead had a single, a double and scored the lone run for Pipestone.
Second-seeded Adrian will host third-seeded Wilmont Friday, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

WILMONT — Justin Saufley did not allow an earned run in nine innings to send Wilmont to a three-run victory in a Gopher League playoff game.
He allowed two unearned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out 10.
Jake Munsch suffered the loss for Tracy.
At the plate, Saufley was 2-for-3 with a two-run double. Mitchell Jensen had two hits and drove in a pair.
Joe Ahrens was 2-for-4, while Jesse Teerink had a triple and drove in a run.
Wilmont (14-8) will travel to Adrian Friday.

Paul Counter earned the victory on the hill for the Buttermakers. He allowed one earned run on five hits while walking three and striking out eight in a complete game.
Jared Pick suffered the loss. He allowed two earned runs on seven hits while walking five and striking out 13 in eight innings.
Rob Fodness was 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Adam Kurtz was 1-for-3 and scored a run for the Redbirds.

Traetow helped his own cause with three hits, while Matt Bezdicek and Marcus Teachout each had two hits. Cody Williams had a double and drove in two.
For Mountain Lake, AJ Smith and Adam Schroeder each had an RBI single. Kyle Schroeder also had a single.
Fox Lake will face Jackson Saturday night in the second game at Windom.
Mountain Lake will face the loser of Windom and Heron Lake, which play the first game Saturday.
