Names released in double fatal

Two Worthington men, David VonHoltum, 72, and his son, Stephen VonHoltum, 38, were killed in a crash early Friday evening near Round Lake.

10:15 a.m. Saturday update:

ROUND LAKE - Two Worthington men, David VonHoltum, 72, and his son, Stephen VonHoltum, 38, were killed in a crash early Friday evening near Round Lake.

David VonHoltum was driving a 2005 Suzuki XL7 westbound on Nobles County 35 when he was struck by a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup southbound on Minnesota 264. The pickup, pulling a 1988 Coachman camper trailer, was driven by Dennis Schroeder, 47, of Tracy.

David and Stephen VonHoltum were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was reported at 6:04 p.m.

Schroeder was treated and released at Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington. Passengers in his vehicle included Dawn Schroeder, 47, of Tracy, who sustained a broken hand; and a 15-year-old boy and 4-year-old boy whose identities were not released. Both boys were treated and released from Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington.

Responding at the scene were the Minnesota State Patrol, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Round Lake Fire and Rescue and Worthington Ambulance.

As of press time, authorities had not yet released the names of two people killed in a car crash Friday at the intersection of Minnesota 264 and Nobles 35 north of Round Lake. Round Lake Rescue was dispatched to the scene at approximately 6 p.m. The names of two deceased people in a minivan were not released pending notification of family. A second vehicle, pictured here, was reportedly carrying two adults and two children. All four were transported by ambulance to Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington.
