Brief: Burglars get stuck, apprehended

LESTER, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two alleged burglars Tuesday after investigating a report of a residential burglary in rural Lester, Iowa.

LESTER, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two alleged burglars Tuesday after investigating a report of a residential burglary in rural Lester, Iowa.

After filing the complaint, the reporting party called back a short time later and advised that a vehicle with two male subjects was stuck near his hog confinement.

Garrett Riley Beaner, 19, of Luverne, and Zachary John Swenson, 16, of Steen, were arrested.

Beaner was charged with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony; third-degree burglary, a Class D felony; animal abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor; trespassing, a simple misdemeanor; driving without a valid driver’s license, a simple misdemeanor; and failure to have insurance; a simple misdemeanor. He is being held in the Lyon County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

Swenson was charged with third-degree burglary; trespassing; and violation of gun conveyance law, a simple misdemeanor. He was released to his father.
