I found Rep. Walz’s “Time to work together” article, which ran on Nov. 11, interesting to say the least.

In order to emphasize a couple of points, I am going to stay away from debate on the positives/negatives of H.R. 3962, and ask Rep. Walz one question: If H.R. 3962 is such a great piece of healthcare legislation for the American people, why do Rep. Walz and most members of Congress refuse to participate in this program? I understand that there were amendments proposed several times to require such participation, and that they were voted down each time — right along party lines. 

Rep. Walz’s statement that “It’s time to stop playing political games and come together across party lines to solve the problem” won’t get any argument from me. I would only point out to Rep. Walz that this is a two-way street. Neither party holds the high road in the political arena, which is evidenced by Congress’s 23 percent approval rating.

Members of Congress don’t appear to care and seem to have forgotten that they are elected public servants. Those in Washington need to start paying attention.
