WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Police Department was contacted Friday by authorities in Brandon, S.D., regarding checks being passed in the area that are countfeit.

According to Worthington Police Det. Sgt. Kevin Flynn, numerous checks have been passed between Worthington and the Fargo, N.D., area with the name Dan Seng or Sang or under the name Loung Doan. The checks appear to be from an account at a “Savings Bank and Trust” with either a Fargo or a Lismore address.

The account and routing number on the checks was stolen from a woman’s account in Fargo, and that account has been closed due to criminal activity.

If any bank or business receives a check as described, they are asked to contact the Worthington Police Department while the person attempting to pass the check is still present, and to keep any and all identification presented, as well as the check.
