H1N1 novel influenza infections remain low in Minn.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Swine flu infections remain low in Minnesota, although the Minnesota Department of Health is reporting one more confirmed death.

The Health Department released its weekly update on swine flu in the state on Wednesday.

There was one reported outbreak of influenza-like illness in schools the week of Jan. 3, one swine flu hospitalization and no outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

In addition to the confirmed swine flu death there is also one new death from unspecified flu. No testing was done in that case.

With the latest report, 55 people have died in the state of swine flu, six from unidentified flues and one from seasonal flu.

Although flu activity is down, state officials recommend Minnesotans get vaccinated because a third wave of infections could arise.
