GRIMES, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say they've found the owners of a dead Chihuahua tossed in a trash bin behind a business in the Des Moines suburb of Grimes.

The Polk County sheriff's office says the owners are not suspected of wrongdoing in the dog's death.

Deputy Jana Rooker says there's no reason to believe its death was suspicious. She declined to release the owners' names.

Workers at J&D Computer Repair discovered the dog while throwing out some trash last Saturday. Rooker says officials haven't determine who put the dog in the trash bin.

The dog was sent to a lab in Ames to determine the cause of death.
