SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa — Voters approved the Spirit Lake Community School District’s proposed Physical Plant and Equipment Levy Tuesday, allowing for a four-year lease program that will provide more than 1,000 laptop computers to students in grades 5-12.
The measure garnered 56 percent voter approval, with 816 people voting in favor. The levy will cost taxpayers $0.65 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation, or about $58 per year for three years on a $200,000 home. For more details about the program, see Saturday’s Daily Globe.
