LUVERNE — Gretchen Nowatzki took second place in both the vault and the beam Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to carry Luverne over Marshall — as the Tigers defeated the Cardinals 129.6 to 126.725 in a gymnastics meet.
Nowatzki posted a 9.15 in the vault and an 8.6 in the beam, finishing just behind Marshall’s Nikki McNair (9.35) and Emily Facile (8.65), respectively.
The Cardinal junior also placed third in the floor exercise with an 8.3.
Also for Luverne, Krista VanDyk (32.18) and Kaitlyn VanMeeteren (30.05) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the all-around tally.
Two other Cardinals claimed third-place finishes — Lauren Witte in the vault (8.9) and Britton Dyer on the bars (7.6).
