WADENA - After losing her own kittens, a cat named Tocket recently adopted a litter of basset hound puppies at the home of Bridgit Lewis, in Wadena.

The 4 1/2-year-old cat lost her kittens Feb. 10. Four days later the pups were born and their own mother did not have milk for them.

Tocket, who nearly died of a fever after losing her kittens, took over nursing duties, making it a happy ending for all concerned.

Lewis, who owns several pets, plans to sell the pups when they are older.
