LUVERNE — The Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Brown Street in Luverne earlier this week, and drug charges against Charles Henry Olson, 28, were filed Thursday.

Olson is charged with two felonies for being in possession of two pistols after being convicted of a crime of violence, storing meth paraphernalia in the presence of a child and fifth-degree controlled substance possession.

The complaint states the task force arrived at Olson’s residence Wednesday and found him on the premises. The search allegedly revealed numerous drug-related items, including a pipe with meth residue, numerous smoking devices, green leafy substances and pills which appeared to the task force to be ecstasy.

Child toys and a playpen were found in the house as well.

In Olson’s bedroom, two pistols were located. One was found in a dresser by the bed, the other on a TV stand in a box. A loaded magazine was found in the same box, but the pistol was not loaded. Olson has prior felony convictions that bar him from possessing firearms in general and pistols or assault weapons specifically, the complaint states.

After agreeing to give a statement, Olson allegedly admitted he was a daily marijuana user, stating that he buys quantities of marijuana and sells it to his friends, then they often smoke it together in his home.

Olson has a previous conviction for possession of methamphetamine in Sioux Falls, S.D., from 2007. In Minnesota he had convictions of juvenile adjudications for burglary, fourth-degree controlled substance, criminal damage to property, driving while impaired and various traffic violations.

Olson was granted a public defender Thursday and is scheduled to make a court appearance Monday.
