The Nobles County Relay For Life committee would like to extend a thanks to the Ellsworth Panthers coaches, boys’ basketball team and fans for their participation in Coaches Versus Cancer on Jan. 28. You successfully raised over $1,500 to help in the mission of the American Cancer Society.
In 2009, the American Cancer Society gave 14 grants for a total of nearly $7 million to the University of Minnesota and Rochester Mayo. All of the Relay For Life events combined in Minnesota did not even raise $7 million in 2009!
In 2009, donations to the American Cancer Society provided lodging for 1,352 cancer patients at the Hope Lodges in Rochester and the University of Minnesota. The free lodging saved cancer patients over $3 million.
The American Cancer Society can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at 1-800-ACS-2345 or at www.cancer.org. Trained medical staff is available to help cancer patients, caregivers and family or friends with any questions or services needed.
The Ellsworth Panthers coaches, team and fans were able to have a lot of fun and contribute to a cause that benefits all of us. Thank you again for your time, effort and contributions on Jan. 28.
The team kick-off for the 2010 Nobles County Relay will be taking place on Tuesday, March 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in one of the classrooms at the hospital. Please stop by if you plan to have a team or would like to learn more about having a team for the Relay For Life.
