Letter: With nearing elections come selective memories

The wrangling has already begun regarding next year’s election, and, as usual, some fingers are being pointed about who said what, at what point in time.

The wrangling has already begun regarding next year’s election, and, as usual, some fingers are being pointed about who said what, at what point in time. It’s the same old story; just wait until the next election for any number of issues.

It’s truly amazing just how short people’s memories are or how selective they can actually be. They’ve given our new president a little over a year to try to fix everything that was allowed to go wrong within the past 30 years, and now their solution is to simply deny any complicity in the business of the banking industry debacle, the health care mess, national security and an ongoing war.

Meanwhile, people are applying for jobs at fast-food restaurants to supplement their retirement or pay for their health insurance while the banking and insurance executives are sailing around the world on their luxury yachts because they were such astute financial leaders. And, oh yes, do a little checking into where your previous office holders are located. Most have simply stayed in D.C. to further suck the blood out of a system that’s in dire need of a transfusion.

Now the sole concern of the GOP appears to be creating gridlock in Washington, (as if it didn’t already exist), until it has another shot at something it was unable to do for the preceding eight years. These people are some real mavericks, you betcha. I can hardly wait for the commercials to start on TV.
