Obituary: Roy Nasers

Roy Nasers, 80 years old, retired farmer of rural Worthington died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.

He was born March 29, 1929, in rural Osceola County to Roy and Genevieve (Fox) Nasers. He was the first of four sons. He attended 1st through 8th grades in rural Osceola county schools. He eagerly helped his parents with the farm work from an early age and after finishing school worked at home until he was drafted into the United States Army. Roy served two years in Korea, first as a medic and then as a mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

After his military service, Roy farmed in rural Osceola County with his father, on his own and with brothers, Ray and Robert.

On November 22, 1958, Roy married Dorothy (Strouth) Nasers in Ashton, Iowa. They had three children. In 1968, Roy and Dorothy moved from Sibley, Iowa to Worthington, Minnesota to farm on their own. He was dedicated to the work and business of farming his whole life. He enjoyed the people who worked for him and the businesses and people that he worked with.

Besides farming Roy loved politics, current affairs and family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Nasers and his brother, Glenn Nasers.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Worthington, MN; two daughters, Lorna (Todd) Kruger of Sibley, IA, and Ruth (Jim) Putnam of Worthington, MN; seven grandchildren, Tracey, Jay, Ted and Kendra Kruger and Genna, Nicholas and Margaret Putnam; two brothers, Ray (Barbara) Nasers and Robert (Beverly) Nasers, and sister-in-law, Theresa Nasers all of Sibley, IA.

Visitation is Friday, March 19, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral Home, 1225 Ryans Road, Worthington, MN. The service officiated by Father Larry Brixius will be at St. Mary’s Church, 1215 7th Ave, Worthington, MN on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. with interment in Sibley, Iowa.
