Jennie M. Anderson, age 97, of Worthington, died, Friday, April 2, 2010, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington.
Jennie M. Anderson, age 97, of Worthington, died, Friday, April 2, 2010, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born June 24, 1912 in Indian Lake Township, Nobles County, MN, to parents John and Emma (Nystrom) Blixt. Jennie attended country school and graduated from Worthington High School. She became a member of the Indian Lake Baptist Church in 1924 and taught Sunday School for several years.
Jennie was united in marriage to Victor Q. Anderson of Marshall, MN, on December 12, 1952. They made their home in Marshall for two years before returning to the home farm in Indian Lake Township. They retired to Worthington in 1964, and her husband, Victor Q. Anderson, passed away in 1968. Jennie moved to Sunshine Apartments in 1992.
Jennie was one of the first members of the Worthington Garden Club. She was a former member of the Hospital Auxiliary and the Noble Swedes.
She enjoyed cooking and baking and was a great gardener with her flowers and vegetables. Jennie had a remarkable memory and enjoyed sharing her history. She was an avid reader as a young person. After her eyesight declined, she continued to read over 2,000 books on tape from the talking book library.
She is survived by one niece, two nephews and several cousins.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Minnie Herrlinger.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Indian Lake Baptist Church, rural Worthington.
The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Indian Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Roth officiating. Burial will be in Indian Lake Baptist Cemetery.
