WORTHINGTON — A missing 84-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s who had been missing for about three hours was found in the Sungold Trailer Court area at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, thanks to the efforts of nine law enforcement officials and about 100 community members.

“We contacted a lot of people in the community out walking around and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to look for her, and who was willing to assist us and showed concern and compassion for another person who was lost and needed help,” said Sgt. Bill Bolt of the Worthington Police Department.

Together, the WPD and Nobles County Sheriff’s Office systematically canvassed the city of Worthington, stopping and talking to everyone they saw, providing them with a description of the missing woman and asking them to contact law enforcement if she was seen.

“Everybody we talked to showed concern and a willingness to assist, and that enabled the police department to multiply our resources exponentially,” Bolt said. “We appreciate and value the assistance provided to us by the community, and it is my opinion that the strength of the police department is a reflection of the strength of the community.”
