SW Minn. Schools place at state speech tourney

ST. PETER — School districts in southwest Minnesota had a strong showing at the Class A State Speech Tournament Saturday in St. Peter. Londyn Robinson, of Luverne Public Schools, was named the state champion in Discussion.

Londyn Robinson, of Luverne Public Schools, was named the state champion in Discussion.

The following area students also placed in their respective categories:

Extemporaneous Speaking: Jeremy Clark, Worthington, fifth place.

Great Speeches: Emily Lyons, Adrian, fifth place; Loretta Bartosh, Southwest Star Concept, third place.

Informative Speaking: Laura Lorang, Adrian, fourth place.

Original Oratory: Sameera Nalla, Worthington, seventh place.

Serious Interpretation - Poetry: Molly Bass, Murray County Central, fourth place; Brady Ysker-Giefer, Windom Area, third place.

Serious Interpretation – Prose: Jacob Schneider, Pipestone Area, fourth place.

Story Telling: Breanna Spartz, Round Lake-Brewster, sixth place; Dan Beech, Murray County Central, eighth place.
