SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The wind advisory has been canceled.

"Wind speeds are no longer meeting the criteria," the National Weather Service stated.

10:30 a.m.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A wind advisory will be in effect from noon to 7 p.m. today for southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa, including Nobles, Jackson, Cottonwood, Murray, Pipestone and Rock counties in Minnesota and Lyon, Osceola and Dickinson counties in Iowa.

A cold front will move eastward along and east of the Interstate 29 corridor by midday and this afternoon. The strongest of the winds may occur a few hours behind the frontal passage, but the area will remain windy throughout the afternoon.

West to northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are expected, with gusting around 40 miles per hour, particularly along the Buffalo Ridge in southwest Minnesota extending through the Spencer, Iowa vicinity.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 miles per hour or gusts range between 46 and 57 miles per hour. Wind of this magnitude may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high-profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.
