Letter: Time for Pawlenty to get home and to get work

Traveling across the country on his presidential expedition, Tim Pawlenty has been courting the tea partiers.

Traveling across the country on his presidential expedition, Tim Pawlenty has been courting the tea partiers. Note that the Tea Party folks assert their mission is the preservation of liberty and the U.S. Constitution.

Paradoxically, Pawlenty freed his calendar for visits to New Hampshire and Iowa by ignoring the constitutional duties he owes Minnesota and short-cutting the separation of powers that are the core of our constitutional democracy. Pawlenty’s hypocrisy is as obvious as is the shamelessness of his ambitions.

I am grateful to the justices of the Minnesota Supreme Court for calling Pawlenty back home to shoulder his share of the work in fixing Minnesota’s enormous budget problems.
