Obituary: Marcella Ruppert
Marcella Ruppert was born on December 16, 1917 on a farm near Fulda, Minnesota to Emmanuel and Anna Mae Puhl Ramert.
Marcella Ruppert was born on December 16, 1917 on a farm near Fulda, Minnesota to Emmanuel and Anna Mae Puhl Ramert. In 1931 the family moved to a farm near Dovray, MN. Marcella grew up on the family farm and graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Currie, MN in 1935. She then attended St. Cloud Teacher’s College graduating in 1938. Following school Marcella taught country school in the Dovray area. On September 10, 1940 she and Harold Ruppert were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. They farmed southeast of Currie and raised their ten children. They retired from farming and continued living on the farm until their move to Currie in 1991. Harold passed away on February 14, 1992. Marcella continued living in Currie until 2006 when she moved to Lindenwood Assisted Living in Slayton. Marcella became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton on June 1, 2009 and passed away there on May 8, 2010 at the age of 92. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie and was active with the Catholic Daughters, W.C.C.W., taught religious education, sang in the church choir and was a Communion minister. Marcella enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and spending time with family. Marcella was a homemaker in every sense of the word, enjoying baking, flowers and needlework. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who taught unconditional love by giving it. A gracious women, Marcella will be remembered for her courage, unwavering faith in God, generosity, and her cheerful spirit.
Survivors include her nine children and their spouses; Diane Ruppert and Jim Swatosh of Minneapolis, MN, Gary and Jackie Ruppert of Currie, MN, Dan and Sherry Ruppert of Bloomington, MN, Mary and Chuck Ullery of Rosemount, MN, Carol and Pat Ford of Moorhead, MN, Kathy and Jesse Logero of Lyons, CO, Louise and John Shand of Burnsville, MN, Ceil and Gary Mickelson of Apple Valley, MN, Jan and Steve Mara of Kirkland, WA, daughter-in-law, Stephana Ruppert of Bloomington, MN, 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, brother Cleo Ramert and his wife, Mae of Snohomish, WA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, son, Doug Ruppert, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Services will be at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Larry Brixius officiating. The organist is Patty LeClaire with special music by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Choir. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery Currie, MN.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the IHM Church in Currie from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a CDA rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:20 p.m. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton in charge of arrangements. To send condolences online visit totzkefuneralhome.com.
