Letter: Which Walz is the genuine article?

I received a letter from Rep. Tim Walz entitled “Standing Up for Fiscal Responsibility in Washington” with the statement, “This mailing was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense.” Should we laugh, cry or get angry? He goes on and says, “Talk is cheap when it comes to fiscal responsibility. We need action and leaders willing to make tough choices.”

His record shows he voted with Speaker Pelosi over 94 percent of the time during his four years in Congress. His record shows he voted for the $800 billion stimulus package and the government takeover of health care. He states the federal debt now stands at $12.6 trillion, or $41,000 for every person in the U.S. His solution — creating a bipartisan debt commission to make recommendations to Congress, which picks these 18 members. This is Congress’ effort to pass the buck. I predict their solution will be, “We must raise more revenue.” Washington has never created a program that came anywhere near its budget projections.

Rep. Walz also says, “The government should spend only as much money as it brings in.” Will the real Walz stand up? Is he the Washington go-along-to-get-along politician or the Minnesota Walz?
