LUVERNE — A father and his adult son are dead in what seems to be an apparent murder-suicide Friday afternoon in Luverne.

Authorities called for a welfare check found the bodies of 65-year-old William Hiney Jr, and his severely autistic son Terry Hiney, who was 45 years old. The elder Hiney was reportedly the sole caretaker of the younger man.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office released information early Saturday morning about the deaths, stating they are not actively looking for any suspects. The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Rock County Sheriff Evan Verbrugge stated in the release that autopsies would be conducted on both bodies by the Ramsey County Medical Center.

“I do not have any further information to give until after the autopsy has been completed,” Verbrugge added.
