Filing period ends; candidates announced for area county offices

WORTHINGTON — All three of the Nobles County Commission seats up for election this November will have just one candidate seeking to fill each post.

As of Tuesday’s filing deadline, Robert Demuth Jr. of Worthington was the only individual to file for the open seat in Commissioner District 4. This was the seat vacated by Norm Gallagher at the end of March, and temporarily filled by Gene Foth of Worthington.

Commissioner District 1 incumbent Marvin Zylstra, Brewster, has filed to retain his seat, while David Benson, Bigelow, will run unopposed as the incumbent in District 3.

Other filings in Nobles County were made by incumbents only, and include the following:
