Mural dedication planned for Heritage Days celebration

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — The festivities for the Rock Rapids Heritage Days and 125th Anniversary Celebration are now under way, offering plenty to keep attendees busy from morning to night — including the dedication of a mural at the town’s Farm Bureau building on Saturday.

Today

4:30 p.m. — Christian Reformed Church Whopper Feed, US Bank Square

6:30 p.m. — Kids’ Parade, courthouse square

Friday

7 to 9 a.m. — Community breakfast, Dad’s Belgian Waffles, Forster Community Center

1:30 and 3:30 p.m. — Rapids Mural Society mural tours, pick-up at Depot Museum and Forster Community Center

6 p.m. — Mural dedication, Farm Bureau building

7 p.m. — Burn Out Contest, Second Avenue

8 p.m. — River Valley Players Review, Forster Auditorium; car races, Lyon County Fairgrounds

8:30 p.m. — Cruise Night, downtown

Saturday

8 a.m. — Road Race 10K, 5K and 1-mile, Island Park

9 a.m. — Fast Pitch Tournament, Borman Forster Ballpark

10 a.m. — Western Iowa Border Agents “Jail Break,” downtown

11 a.m. — Parade, downtown

Noon — Car and motorcycle show, Island Park; brat feed, VFW
