Campaign season is coming and suddenly every politician is concerned about school kids. Never mind that many of them voted to cut funds for our schools. Never mind that the governor and legislature balanced the state budget by delaying payments to schools.
Unless you know the candidate personally, it is difficult to know what to believe.
I know Matt Entenza. I met Matt when he walked into my biology class when he was a sophomore at Worthington Senior High School. I watched him grow into an honorable man who is ready to lead Minnesota.
Those of us who met Matt when he first moved to Worthington know that Matt’s mother and her three children faced tough times. The Entenza family moved to Worthington with literally nothing to their names. But, as Matt tells it, the town of Worthington gave him a shot at success because we made sure that every child in our schools had a chance to get a great education. To someone else Matt’s story could just be a line; but when Matt tells us that the education he received in Worthington was the key to his success we can hear his sincere thank you.
Growing up in our small rural community, Matt experienced the benefits of a great education. I know he will do what it takes to restore Minnesota’s schools and make them great again.
