Honor flight seats still available

LUVERNE — Seats are still available for veterans wishing to join the second-ever Honor Flight Southwest Minnesota.

There will be an Honor Flight Southwest Minnesota Starfire Rocks Street Dance and Cruise-In from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday at the Rock County Courthouse Square, 200 E. Luverne St., Luverne. Food and beverages will be available, along with a beer garden.

Honor Flight Southwest Minnesota is an organization affiliated with the non-profit organization Honor Flight Network. The purpose of the organization is to raise funds and provide an all-expense-paid trip for World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to tour the National World War II Memorial.

Since the fundraising began in early December 2009, Honor Flight Southwest Minnesota has been able to take the inaugural flight in April/May 2010. A second flight has been scheduled for October 1 and 2.

Seats are still available for veterans and a list has begun for a third flight in the spring of 2011.
