Letter: Kelliher puts people, land before profits

I am voting for Margaret Anderson Kelliher in the DFL gubernatorial primary on August 10 because it is important to me that the next governor of Minnesota understands and respects the people who live and work in rural Minnesota.

Margaret grew up on a farm that suffered through the farm crisis of the 1980s. She’s a leader committed to strengthening rural economies, protecting our soil and water and will work in new innovative ways for Minnesota’s farm families.

She believes in democracy and supports local control. As governor, I believe she’ll support the rights of people in townships and counties in determining the kind of development they want.

There is no question about it; western Minnesota is going through hard times. It’s time for us to elect a governor that will face the future and make choices that put people and the land before corporate profits — something we haven’t had for the last eight years.

I hope you’ll join me in voting for Margaret in the Aug. 10 gubernatorial primary. She’s a proven leader who will work at getting Minnesota moving forward again.
