Farmer Appreciation Days starts tonight in Lake Park

LAKE PARK, Iowa — The Lake Park Town and Country Boosters 26th annual Farmer Appreciation Days kicks off tonight at 5 o’clock with a Golf Fun Night at Silver Lake Country Club.
A Lake Park Players presentation of “Faith County” at the Harris-Lake Park High School Auditorium will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Activities continue through Sunday afternoon. Here’s a sampling:
Saturday:
10 a.m., Emersombiguns For the Cure 5K Run/Walk, registration forms at www.lakeparkia.com.
11:15 a.m., First-ever pie-eating contest, Stan’s Corner.
1 p.m., Parade.
2 p.m., Kids’ pedal tractor pull and free kiddie train rides, City Park.
2 to 5 p.m., free inflatables for kids, City Park; free family swim day, Lake Park Pool.
4 to 7 p.m., Barbecue contest and supper, park near Lake Park Pool.
9 p.m. to 1 a.m., Street dance featuring IV Play, corner of Market Street and Avenue A East.
Sunday:
1 p.m., Second annual Farmers Appreciation Tractor Ride.
2 p.m. “Faith County” by Lake Park Players, Harris-Lake Park High School Auditorium.
5 p.m. Lake Park Fireman’s Cruise-In and Supper, City Park; Lake Park Town & Country Boosters Raffle Drawing.
