SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A flash flood watch will be in effect from Thursday afternoon to Friday evening for Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson and O'Brien counties in Iowa, as well as Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles, Jackson, Pipestone and Rock counties in Minnesota.
A cold front will push slowly east across the Northern Plains Thursday into Friday. Thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of this front Thursday afternoon and persist into Friday. The best chance for storms will occur late Thursday afternoon and night and again Friday afternoon. Locally heavy rains of 1 to 3 inches will be possible with these storms which could cause flash flooding.
Due to the already saturated ground, any additional heavy rain could cause flash flooding.
