LEOTA — The Minnesota State Patrol investigated a one-vehicle accident at 12:44 p.m. Friday on Minnesota 91, east of Leota. Carol Eggleston, 66, of Worthington, was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 when she struck a dirt embankment while trying to turn a corner. She was treated and released at Sanford Medical Center Worthington. The vehicle sustained severe damage.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — At 1 p.m. Thursday, a Lyon County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed on Lyon County A-26. After a 3 ½-mile chase, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled. Alfonso Cortes-Diaz, 27, of Alvord, Iowa, was arrested and charged with excessive speed, passing contrary to highway markings, failure to have a valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, defective tires and no insurance, all simple misdemeanors; and identity theft, a Class D felony.
