Corn Show begins in Little Rock
LITTLE ROCK, Iowa —The Little Rock Corn Show begins tonight, kicking off the 63rd year of the much-loved “corny” festival in the small community.
LITTLE ROCK, Iowa —The Little Rock Corn Show begins tonight, kicking off the 63rd year of the much-loved “corny” festival in the small community.
The event features a number of corn, vegetable and flower displays in the Town and Country Building, as well as a carnival midway on Friday and Saturday. Flower entries will be accepted from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Town and Country Building; produce entries will be in the building from 1 to 9 p.m.
Bingo is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, the other events are as follows:
Friday
1 p.m., kids’ rides open, south of the school
6 p.m., Kooi family musical presentation, under the tent on Main Street
7 p.m., button drawing
Saturday
7:30 a.m., registration for bike ride/walk, Town and Country Park, south of town
8 a.m., 25-mile bike ride or five-mile walk begin
11 a.m. to 1 p.m., pork dinner, city hall
1:30 p.m., ninth annual Golf Ball Roll
2 p.m., Corn Show parade featuring Wild West re-enactment and bank robbery re-enactment
6 p.m., musical program, tent on Main Street
7 p.m., button drawing
8 p.m. to midnight, teen dance featuring Cory Storm, south of city hall
Sunday
9 a.m. to noon, waffle breakfast
10 a.m., joint church service with music by Because Christ Came, under the tent
Noon, co-ed sand volleyball tournament
1 p.m., antique tractor pull, Town and Country Park
