Josephine Mary (Sant) Ruppert, the daughter of John and Josephine (Baumgartner) Sant, was born on May 3, 1921, in Fulda, Minnesota. In 1924, Josephine's family moved to Fenton Township, where Josephine attended Iona Country Schools, later attending St. Columba Catholic School. After school, Josephine remained at home helping out on the family farm. In March of 1941, the family moved to Fulda. On July 7, 1941, Josephine was united in marriage to Nick Ruppert at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda. After marriage, the couple made their home in Fulda. In 1961, they moved to Heron Lake. After Nick's passing on January 15, 2003, Josephine remained at home in Heron Lake. Josephine passed away on August 26, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin, at the age of 89 years, three months, and twenty-three days.
Josephine had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake since 1961. In her earlier years, Josephine was an active volunteer at Lakeview Nursing Home, where she volunteered for over 25 years. She was a great neighbor helping out those who needed it. Josephine was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved flowers, collecting recipes, and tending to her garden.
Josephine is survived by her two daughters, Janet (John) McConaghy of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and Karen Ruppert of Durand, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Lynette (Tom) Leinss of Waukesha, Wisconsin, David McConaghy of De Pere, Wisconsin, Jolene (Bruce) Meissner of De Pere, Wisconsin, and Nicole (John) Harlos of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; and seven great-grandchildren, Brendan and Nick Meissner, J.T. and Katelyn Leinss, and Jackson, Peyton and Lauren Harlos. Josephine is also survived by her sister Dorothy Reker of Fulda, Minnesota, and a sister-in-law Catherine Ruppert of Slayton, Minnesota, as well as seven nieces and seven nephews.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Nick, and her two sisters, Lorraine Sant and Marilyn Becker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake and on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.
