SHELDON, Iowa — If you can’t find something to do in Sheldon this weekend, you’re not looking hard enough.
The city’s annual Sheldon Celebration Days begins Thursday night and is jam-packed with activities through Labor Day.
“It’s a great opportunity for individuals to bring their families — there’s a little bit for everyone to do, there’s something for every age group,” said Shanelle Matus, director of the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corp.
New this year will be performances of “Annie Get Your Gun,” presented by the newly formed Sheldon Community Theatre, and a Fun in the Park event. The Friday evening event will featuring a Hy-Vee grill-out picnic available for a nominal cost, and Iowa State Bank is sponsoring a jazz performance and movie screening that will be free to the public.
Food vendors will be in the city park all day Monday, and plenty of other favorites are sprinkled throughout the weekend.
“The big draws are definitely the car show, the Fly-In Pancake Breakfast, the free entertainment in the park and the parade,” Matus said.
