STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — The Washington County sheriff's office is identifying the Minneapolis woman who died after scuba diving in Square Lake. She was Stephanie Renee Smith.
The sheriff says deputies were called to the Golden Acres Campground about 4:15 p.m. Thursday and found someone performing CPR on the 48-year-old woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies say the woman was diving at the time of the incident, but the death remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and the Ramsey County medical examiner's office.
The Washington County web site says Square Lake has some of the clearest water in the state and draws scuba divers and swimmers from throughout Twin Cities metro area.
