Fisherman drowns near Harris

HARRIS, Iowa — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated an apparent drowning at approximately 11:39 a.m. Tuesday at Iowa Lake near Harris.

HARRIS, Iowa — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated an apparent drowning at approximately 11:39 a.m. Tuesday at Iowa Lake near Harris.

The victim, John Arthur Flier, 83, of Larchwood, Iowa, apparently fell off a dock while fishing. He was pronounced dead by the Osceola County Medical Examiner.

Assisting at the scene were a local farmer, the Sibley Ambulance, Ocheyedan Ambulance, Harris Rescue Squad and Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident is under investigation by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner.
