Letter: Elderly need an income boost from DC

We have people on Social Security that can barely make ends meet as it is, and our government sees fit to again talk about not giving the elderly a cost of living increase to their benefits this year — for the second year in a row.

We have people on Social Security that can barely make ends meet as it is, and our government sees fit to again talk about not giving the elderly a cost of living increase to their benefits this year — for the second year in a row.

I’m not old enough to draw benefits at this time, but I do understand that the ones that do are the ones that helped form this country, raised you and me alike, and now have to rely on the government to help them in their retirement age. Are we going to sit back and not take care of our elderly?

I’m sure that all the senators and congressmen that vote themselves a healthy raise every year are all on board with this decision. It being an election year, I would hope that some of us will contact our elected officials and let them know how that this is one of the dumbest things that they are about to do — for the second time. Please tell your elected officials.
