WORTHINGTON - Worthington law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel were dispatched shortly before 9 this morning to Prairie Elementary after a report of an odor that was making some school inhabitants dizzy.

Upon reviewing the building for a possible sewer leak, it was determined the foul aroma was not originating in the building. The culprit: the smell of liquid manure emanating from across U.S. 59/Minnesota 60, thanks to gusty winds blowing in an inopportune direction.

Prairie Elementary students had the good fortune of an early dismissal, thanks to a staff in-service. There is no school Thursday or Friday due to the annual MEA meetings.
