Matheson-Linweld adds trailers to its business offerings

WORTHINGTON — Whether you need a trailer to haul sticks and leaves to the city dump, cart the 4-wheeler across the county or carry your construction equipment to a job site, Matheson-Linweld of Worthington now has a trailer that will fill your needs.

The local company — formerly known as Valley National Gas and Welder’s Supply — added trailers to its line of welding, gas and industrial supplies about a month ago, according to inside salesperson Arond Peil.

Matheson-Linweld carries four different brands, including Finish Line, Eagle and H&H, which are primarily kept in stock, as well as Doolittle, which can be special ordered.

“People can special order anything they want,” Peil said.

Options include everything from steel to aluminum, and from small utility trailers to the long gooseneck varieties.

“We carry everything short of semi and horse trailers,” Peil said.

Matheson-Linweld is a worldwide company, with locations stretching from the West Coast to the East Coast in the United States. The Worthington location is one of just four to expand into the trailer business.

“We are trying to offer the public another option,” Peil said, adding that the local business opted to expand because it had the added room to display trailers on-site.

“You have to have a location with room for it, and most of our stores don’t,” he said.

Peil, along with Tim Murphy, are the store’s two full-time employees, with Murphy handling the outside sales portion of the business within about a 60-mile radius of Worthington.

Located at 121 Oxford Street (at the intersection with Rowe Avenue), Matheson-Linweld is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
