Hamilton trounces Brandt

WORTHINGTON - In the District 22B House race, incumbent Rod Hamilton, a Republican, maintained a strong lead over Democratic challenger Bill Brandt of Lakefield.

With 74 of 74 precincts reporting, Hamilton had the lead with 8,558 votes (69.16%) to Brandt’s 3,811 (30.8%). Six write-in votes accounted for .05% of the vote total.

Hamilton, of Mountain Lake, was elected to the House seat for the first time in 2004. He serves as vice chair of the agriculture, rural economies and veterans affairs finance division, and is the lead GOP member on that committee, as well as the early childhood finance and policy division, environment and natural resources finance division and the ways and means committee.

Hamilton also could not be reached for comment early Wednesday morning.

Republican incumbent Rod Hamilton is maintaining a strong lead over his opponent, Bill Brandt (DFL), in the District 22B State Representative race.

Bill Brandt: 1,250 (33.12%)

Rod Hamilton: 2,522 (66.83%)

10:15 p.m.

In the District 22B State Representative race, Republican Rod Hamilton is leading Democrat Bill Brandt with 1,981 votes to 989 votes, or 66.66 percent to 33.28 percent.

There were two write-in votes.

Representative Rod Hamilton, incumbent Republican for Minnesota House District 22B, leads Democratic challenger Bill Brandt in very early election reporting. With results recorded in three of 74 precincts, Hamilton has a lead of 204 votes to 103 votes for Brandt.
