ADRIAN: The Adrian High School will host a Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the gymnasium. The middle and high school choirs will perform, and speaker is Red McCarthy.
BREWSTER: A Veterans Day program will begin at 9 a.m. in the Brewster School gymnasium. Round Lake-Brewster Elementary students will present the program with music.
FULDA: The Fulda High School FCCLA will sponsor a Veterans Day program, beginning with a breakfast to honor veterans at 8:15 a.m. in the school cafeteria, a veteran as a guest in one of the high school classrooms at 9 a.m. and a program which is open to the public and begins at 10 a.m. at the high school. Following the program, the Fulda Cannoneers will fire the Ordnance 3-inch rifle in the school parking lot.
GEORGE, Iowa: George-Little Rock High School will host a Veterans Day program at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the school.
HERON LAKE/OKABENA: The Heron Lake American Legion and Auxiliary, along with the Okabena American Legion and Auxiliary, will host a combined Veterans Day Program at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Southwest Star Concept in Okabena. Guest speaker is CW3 Tori Clunis of the Minnesota National Guard. Students will provide music and entertainment.
JACKSON: Riverside Elementary School will host a tribute to veterans at 10 a.m. today in the school gymnasium. A Veterans Day program will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in the main lobby of Bank Midwest, with the Rev. Eugene “Pete” Peterson as the featured speaker. A flag will be presented to a resident at 3 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Society.
LAKEFIELD: Pleasantview Elementary School will host a veterans program at 10 a.m. Thursday in the school gym. The American Legion will host a pot luck at noon in the Legion Hall, followed by coffee and desserts at 1 p.m. in room 106B of the Jackson County Middle School.
LAKE PARK, Iowa: Harris-Lake Park Elementary School will host a program at 10 a.m. Thursday in the school gymnasium, and Harris-Lake Park High School will host a program at 1 p.m. Thursday in the high school/middle school auditorium. Speaker for both programs will be Lake Park American Legion Post Commander James Kessler.
LUVERNE: A Veterans Day program will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the Luverne High School gymnasium. The program will include performances by the Luverne High School Band and Concert Choir, a performance of “The Greatest Generation” by Lonnie Carpenter, presentation of Taps, speakers and a presentation of the flags by the Rock County Color Guard. A banquet for veterans is planned Thursday evening at the Blue Mound Banquet Center, and is hosted by the Last Man Club.
OKOBOJI, Iowa: Okoboji Community High School will host a Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. Thursday in the school auditorium. Speaker is Ernie Cupp from the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs.
ROUND LAKE: A Veterans Day program, “Paid in Full,” is planned at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Round Lake High School gymnasium. The program will include the Legion Color Guard, musical selections and speeches.
SIBLEY, Iowa: The Sibley-Ocheyedan Middle School will host lunch for veterans at 1 p.m. Thursday in the middle school cafeteria. Dessert will follow at Sibley-Ocheyedan Elementary School.
SHELDON, Iowa: Sheldon Christian School will present a Veterans Day program at 8:45 a.m. Thursday in school the gymnasium. Veterans and their spouses are invited to attend.
SLAYTON: Murray County Central Elementary School will host a Veterans Day program at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the school.
Murray County Central High School will host a program at 1 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Speaker is Ken Onken.
WILMONT: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary 2603 of Wilmont will have a potluck Sunday at the post home. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and meal at 6 p.m. Special guests will be World War II veterans, and there will also be entertainment. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass.
WINDOM: Windom American Legion Post 206 will have a program at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Windom Area High School. Speaker will be retired Col. Richard A. Weaver, former commander of Camp Ripley. Weaver was born and raised in Heron Lake and graduated from Brewster High School. Music will be presented by the Windom Area High School Band, a mass elementary choir, and a mass K-12 choir.
WORTHINGTON: Prairie Elementary will host a Veterans Day Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, with a program to follow at 7:45 a.m., at the school gymnasium. Call (507) 727-1250 to RSVP.
The Worthington Middle School will host a series of Veterans Day ceremonies Thursday at Freedom Shore Park. Seventh-grade students will read letters and poems they’ve written, and lay wreaths designed by the English classes while some students play “Taps.” Ceremonies will last 30 minutes and will begin at 10:05 a.m., 11:05 a.m., 12:35 p.m. and 1:25 p.m.
Worthington High School will host a Veterans Day Observance from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the high school. Speaker will be 1st Lt. Aaron Johnson of the Minnesota Army National Guard. The program will feature performances by the Bel Canto choir and Trojan Band.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College will host a Veterans Ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Worthington campus. The color guard will raise the flag, while Minnesota West instructor Eric Parrish sings the national anthem. Following the flag-raising, there will be a presentation by speakers who participated in Honor Flight Southwest Minnesota.
