READING — With the men out hunting for the elusive big buck this Saturday, the women of Reading are planning a gathering at the Reading Community Center that revolves around decorated tables, a salad luncheon and shopping.
The third annual fundraiser, which helps pay the heating bills at the center, begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with a Masterpiece Market. A parade of tables begins at 11 a.m. This year’s table theme is the months of the year, with two tables decorated for each month.
“We have a hostess for every table and they decorate their table and sell the eight seats,” said Marla Somnis, one of the committee members for the Reading Booster Club that helped plan the event.
A limited number of seats are still open for the event. Anyone interested in attending is asked to call committee member Karen Feit at 478-4260 for ticket reservations. The luncheon begins at noon.
The 24 tables are sponsored by individuals, groups and organizations in the area, with three tables to be decorated by the Red Hat ladies, another by the Elk Tip Toppers 4-H Club and one by the local church. There will also be a table decorated with the theme of the Reading Community Players annual play, with plates created from decoupaged photographs.
A couple of tables will be decorated by Somnis, including a January table with a Happy New Year theme and a September table themed Autumn Gold.
“Anybody at the party can dress according to the theme,” Somnis said.
Trojan Express will provide entertainment for the event, and door prizes will be awarded following the luncheon.
Among the wares available in the Masterpiece Market are Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Tupperware, Mary Kay, Simply Said, Crib, Bath & Beyond, Tanya’s Tasteful Totes, AdvoCare, Silpada, Cookie Lee, Premier Jewelry, Just Jewelry, Images by Nicole, Stampin’ Up, Celebrating Home and Norwex.
