JACKSON — The snow storm caused power outages in Jackson and Martin counties Saturday and prompted Federated Rural Electric to call in a crew from Nobles Cooperative Electric for assistance.

A transmission line outage occurred at 4:04 a.m. Saturday in Martin County. Additionally, distribution line outages occurred in Martin County as well as Jackson County.

Heavy snow and wind caused lines to snap, tree branches to fall onto power lines and poles to break. One pole was hit by a vehicle sliding off the road. Federated Rural Electric replaced 15 poles due to Saturday’s storm.

Most power was restored by 9 p.m. Saturday.
