Letter: Rushmore fire did affect its citizens

I am writing on behalf of the residents of Rushmore who had to put up with the horrible smell of the smoldering corn.

According to Mr. Miller, no one got sick. Well, that isn’t true because a lot of the residents felt nausea, burning eyes and shortness of breath. If he hadn’t heard about that, it’s because he doesn’t live here and didn’t have to put up with it for 24/7 like we did.

A lot of us ended up with “smelly” houses and clothes. We’re glad it’s done smoldering, but it did make us sick at the time it was burning.
