LUVERNE — Gold’n Plump Poultry will add 35 full-time positions and create a second shift at its facility in Luverne to accommodate a 50 percent production increase.
“We feel positive about adding to our team at a time when the opposite is happening for a lot of other businesses,” stated plant manager Greg Aubert in a press release.
Though the positions will mostly be on the chicken processing line, there will also be a limited number of leadership positions available, with openings on both the traditional 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. day shift and the new 3:45 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. night shift.
Night shift workers will receive 50 cents per hour more than their day shift counterparts and all the new positions are expected to be long-term, permanent additions to the work force.
“We’re looking for people who can work safely with with others on a moving line, people who can follow product specifications and… be flexible and adaptable with a variety of skills,” said Lexann Pryd-Kakuk, corporate relations manager at Gold’n Plump.
Gold’n Plump expects to have all the positions filled in about six to eight weeks.
The Luverne location is serving as a testing ground for Gold’n Plump’s new products and processes, and in this case, most of the new production will likely revolve around a relatively new brand, Just Bare Chicken.
The brand, featuring vegetable-fed chicken raised without antibiotics, is targeted at an increasingly food-savvy public and allows customers to trace the specific farm the packaged chicken came from.
Anyone interested in applying for the jobs should visit goldnplump.com or pick up an application from the facility in Luverne.
