Many offices close Friday for holiday

WORTHINGTON — All county and city offices will be closed Friday to observe the Christmas holiday and will also be closed on Dec. 31 for the New Year’s holiday.

WORTHINGTON — All county and city offices will be closed Friday to observe the Christmas holiday and will also be closed on Dec. 31 for the New Year’s holiday.

The Worthington Chamber of Commerce office will also be closed on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The Nobles County Library will be closed Friday and Saturday and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Local financial institutions have special hours for the holiday weekends: Bank of the West, closing at 2 p.m. Friday, with regular hours on Dec. 31; Worthington Federal Savings Bank, closing at noon Friday, regular hours on Dec. 31; First State Bank Southwest, closing at 2 p.m. Friday, regular hours on New Year’s Eve; Rolling Hills Bank, closing at 1 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. on Dec. 31; United Prairie Bank, closing at noon Friday and at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve; Wells Fargo Bank, closing at 2 p.m. Friday, normal hours on Dec. 31; Fulda Area Credit Union, closing at noon Friday, regular hours on Dec. 31.

Both Hy-Vee Food store and Fareway will close at 5 p.m. Friday; Wal-Mart will close at 8 p.m. Friday. All three stores will be closed on Christmas Day. Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart will reopen for business on Sunday morning; Fareway will resume business at 7 a.m. Monday.

Schaap Sanitation will have normal pickup of garbage and recycling on Friday, with no service Saturday.

The Daily Globe office will close at noon Christmas Eve, and the newspaper will not publish Saturday. The Daily Globe office will be open for normal business hours on Dec. 31, but will not publish on Jan. 1.
