PREP WRESTLING: Bobcats victorious in Pipestone Invitational

PIPESTONE — Five wrestlers on the Wabasso/Red Rock Central team won their weight classes in Saturday’s Pipestone Invitational, sending the Bobcats to the overall team title at the event.

W/RRC finished with a team score of 284, beating out second-place finisher Omaha Burke (252) and third-place finisher Pipestone Area (220).

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/ Westbrook-Walnut Grove finished fourth with a team score of 181.

Tanner Rohlik (130 pounds), Matt Arnold (145), Mitchell Rohlik (152), Blake Altermatt (160) and Cody Welch (189) all won their weight classes for the Bobcats.

The Arrows won three weight classes, with Elijah Everson (112), Dylan Kor (171) and Jon Gorter (215) each triumphing in their individual brackets.

Zach Campbell (135) was the lone Panther wrestler to win his weight class.

W/RRC also had five second-place finishers in Spencer Jenniges (103), Derek Christians (112), Brandon Goblirsch (119), Mitchell Schroepfer (140) and Adam Schroepfer (285).

The Bobcats had two third-place finishers in Ryan Schroepfer (135) and Ray Hagberg (215).

PA had four wrestlers take second in their weight class, and had four take third.

Cole Nordmeyer (125), Alex Ossefoort (130) and Tyler Evans (189) all finished second for the Arrows, and Jake Haubrich (103), Walker Kor (119), Matt Haraldson (160) and Brandon Baker (285) all finished third.

Josh Stangeland (171) finished second for PA in the 171-pound category wrestling as an extra.

Ian Mariner (145) and Matt Wakefield (215) both achieved second-place finishes for T-M-B/W-WG, and Joe Ruppert (125), Cody Christian (140) and Jared Towne (152) achieved third-place finishes.
