JACKSON - The Jackson County Board of Commissioners authorized its attorney to pursue recovery of the $25,000 security bond posted by the Jackson Preservation Alliance during its legal efforts to stop demolition of the county’s resource center.
On Dec. 17, 2010, the county board had voted 3-1 to claim only $6,250 of the $25,000, with an agreement contingent on the Alliance's dismissal of an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) petition it had made to the City of Jackson. The county claims the EAW petition was not dismissed promptly.
In its resolution to attempt to pursue the full $25,000 amount of the bond, the county stated costs of delaying the Resource Center project had reached more than $100,000 - well above the bond total.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
