WHS music students perform today

WORTHINGTON — Eight Worthington High School sophomore band students will participate today in the Southwest Minnesota Band Directors’ Association 2011 (ninth and 10th grade) Honor Band. The day-long event takes place at Marshall High School.
Those selected include Megan Blanchard, flute; Zach Brandt, trumpet; Emma Jirele, percussion; Nathan Landwehr, tenor saxophone; Gordy Moore, French horn; Dillon Pedersen, baritone saxophone; Tim Skog, trombone; and Krista Vogt, trumpet.
Approximately 300 students were nominated for the band.
The students will rehearse between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.; the event culminates with a free concert, open to the public, at 4:30 p.m. today at the Marshall Fine Arts Auditorium.
