WORTHINGTON — The Red Cross Bloodmobile will collect blood donations from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Round Lake American Legion.
Blood donors must be 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in Minnesota), weigh 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Each donor receives a brief examination during which temperature, pulse, blood pressure and hemoglobin (or hematocrit) are measured and other aspects of each potential donor’s health history are discussed as part of the donation process before any blood is collected.
During the blood drive, Double Red machines will be available for a limited number of donors. Double red cell donation is done with the help of an apheresis machine that collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor.
