SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Murray, Cottonwood and Pipestone counties, set to expire at 9 p.m. tonight.

West to northwest winds continue to develop across portions of the area this afternoon as a cold front pushes through the region. These winds will persist into this evening, and then decrease from west to east through the early night time hours.

West to northwest winds will be sustained at speeds of 30 to 35 miles per hour this afternoon into this evening. Winds will then begin to decrease by late evening.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 miles per hour or gusts will range between 46 and 57 miles per hour. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside, the National Weather Service advised.
